Let me just start off by saying I am so glad you are here! I have always had an interest in keeping this family farm kicking. Let me back up. Yellow Creek farm started up in 1931 with milking Guernsey cows by my great grandpa and grandma, Oscar and Bessie Weaver. My grandparents took over and then eventually my parents. There have always been Guernseys running through the barns of this farm. In 2011, my dad made the hard decision to quit milking and sell the cows. It was one of the hardest decisions he's had to make but milk prices were getting bad, cows were dying left and right without any diagnosis and life was just getting too stressful to continue on. So the time came on a breezy March day The first trailer showed up to haul off the first group of our cows to Ohio. Since then, we have kept a handful of Guernseys on our farm for our own enjoyment and to show at our local fair since we were still in school at that point and active in our local 4-H program. It didn't hit me until about 2018- I wanted to keep this farm afloat and thriving. We had a family start up their Jersey milking herd on our farm in 2015 and as soon as I got back from college, I continued my enjoyment for animals by helping them with their calf management. I really enjoyed it and knew I didn't want to stop there. When they moved into their forever farm four years later, I took initiative and started to raise my own steers. Whether that was the offspring of the Guernsey's we were raising or buying some from a local dairy farmer. In 2021, my husband and I got married and he was all on board with whatever vision I was brewing up that week. That same year, we bought our own Angus steers in hopes to get a better idea of how to raise Angus beef. It was definitely a learning curve for sure. We are in the process of navigating what route we want to take on what to raise but one thing we can definitely be sure about - we only want to raise quality, healthy and loved animals on this farm. When it comes to raising animals, I know I am no expert. I am learning each and everyday and learning a lot from those around me, but I do know that I love and care for each animal that steps foot on this farm. We make sure they are cared for and given the best life before they go to market. We know that God gave us this land to be good stewards and He gave us dominion over the resources of this land to use for His glory. We hope that you can enjoy our farm fresh, quality raised meat as much as we do and we can't wait to get to know you!
